"...engaging in new discoveries and building upon past, at Summer Days Camp their is no limit to intellectual curiosity..."
- Janna Genereaux, Director
Summer Days Camp is a project-driven, nurturing day camp for ages four to 12. Leadership training program for older campers (10-13) is also available.
Our curriculum features Art Smart, Kitchen Science, and Fair Play, fostering creative thinking and problem solving.
Our neighborhoods include the Upper Valley Events Center in Norwich and the Purple Crayon Productions' site in Woodstock.
Each day a selection of activities is offered to campers. By choosing on which activities they will focus, a child at Summer Days Camp can set the pace and design of his or her day. Read on for details.
The camp’s director, Janna Genereaux, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, has developed an experience-based curriculum program. Art Smart, Kitchen Science and Fair Play are the educational elements of the program.
Her senior counselor staff are teachers drawn from area schools. They work closely with junior counselors who come from regional colleges and local high schools. The camp’s youngest counselors have graduated from a three-stage Leadership Training program that Summer Days Camp runs for campers aged ten to 13.
All of these staff members provide personal attention to campers as they deliver the curriculum. The engaging physical setting awaiting campers at either of our sites, (Events Center in Norwich or Purple Crayon in Woodstock) provides the physical elements underpinning the Fair Play curriculum. Experiments and baking experiences reveal fundamental scientific concepts taught in Kitchen Science. Hands-on materials exploration and manipulation projects allow children to discover the joy of creation, the core of the Art Smart curriculum. These activities support the philosophy of the program . . . experiential learning, through hands-on activities, games, stories and teamwork stimulates curiosity, builds confidence and nourishes social and emotional growth.
Summer Days Camp brings together children, creating a neighborhood of fulfilled campers learning the skills and benefits of playing with friends of all ages while engaging in activities that they enjoy.
